hib's zen • visualization

I can visualize anywhere. Although, I prefer to visualize in a place I find to be aesthetically pleasing. A place with scenery and natural sounds, like a: sunset, a garden, a waterfall, a stream or, a favorite room, a Power Spot. I then imagine the things that motivate me or make me happy, or I travel in my mind to places where I feel content. A lot like daydreaming, only with a purpose. I am trying to concentrate my images to lead to an eventual result. This relaxed feeling is healthy for my emotional state of general well being. It gives me an opposite to balance my hard-core training regiment in everyday life and readies my mind when I need to cope during a tough fight.
Everything I have a developed in my martial arts experience is a result of my creative visualizing. I take time to research my imagination and see what is going on in my own head day to day. Sometimes I go through periods of intense visualization when I am practicing it and it just flows out naturally. On the other hand, sometimes it is a little more like work.
The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

- ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
When I have a goal, I must concentrate on that goal in my mind. I simply paint a picture of what I need to accomplish and then I imagine finishing it. If I need different ways to solve martial arts techniques or tactics problems, or just about anything, I let my mind go, and visualize different solutions. Often I am labeled a dreamer but it doesn’t stop me from visualizing as much as I need to. It is a necessary part of inventing that needs to be done, a tool for the creative mind

Visualizing the eventual outcome of things can help you to better cope with the unexpected surprises that pop up along the way too. Practicing visualization is the ultimate Zen way to use your imagination. Albert Einstein said, “Imagination is greater than Knowledge” and its true because using your creative imagination pushes you to explore new avenues you wouldn’t normally try. If you can get closer to what you can imagine, then you can do just about anything you put your mind too. All great minds envision new things and stretch the envelope farther with their creatively visualizing imaginations, so visualize!
