Many different types of meditation are an important element in the recovery, rebuilding and, relaxation process. The way to learn to meditate is to learn to quiet your mind through concentrated thought. This can be an individual or group process. You want to be able to achieve a state of mind called the ZONE.
The Zone is where you really want to be. You are in a state of effortless control when you are in the Zone. Before and during a fight, it is especially important to find your way there because it puts controlled reflexive physical response in your command in addition to rendering a confident state of mind.
To practice getting into the Zone, it is effective to start by just sitting back and then taking in some deep breaths. Then like watching a movie, watch and note what goes by on your own personal mind screen. After a while, a rhythm will develop. Try to notice the rhythm and slowly organize your thoughts. Then start to eliminate the unnecessary ones. Eventually and with practice, you may be able to reduce the clutter down to nearly nothing.

Concentration can then be more focused. This is a most relaxing and content state of mind. Finding the Zone will become easier and more natural as time goes on. Then when you need to summon it, it will be at your disposal.

You can also practice by staring at a blank wall with a black dot in the middle. This kind of technique sounds crazy but it can make it easy to Zone Out quickly. It should be done in a place where you won’t be disturbed. It extreme, but it works pretty well when you are trying to get the hang of it. Shadow Boxing can be used as the next stage for experiencing the Zone effect. You can move into a groove much more easily without an opponent at first.

Once you are shadowing your motions in the air, you’ll be able to connect your physical motions with your mentally visualized intentions. This will give the Zone more meaning to you. When you are there you can accomplish greater things because your mind is free to let you function at your full potential without any doubt. Then you can focuses it on something specific, like a great performance or winning a fight!
