The First NHB Epiphany    First there was the illusion that some NHB fighters had about their ability to strike freely in a no-holds-barred contest. The striking myth was shown to be just that by the influx of wrestling and submission grappling to the NHB world. The outlook for fighters who relied solely on striking to gain control over their opponents during a fight began to look pretty bleak.    As time went on however, strikers learned to deal more efficiently with the grapplers. Sometimes learning submission wrestling and sometimes blocking the grappling and hitting on the ground instead. Eventually striking began to prove itself viable in combat.
Now things have evolved and striking is a different animal. There are better ways to deal with grapplers than trying to grapple them on their own terms. Today on a professional level there is a definite distinction between pure submission grappling and NHB fighting! This is the result of hard learned lessons about how and when to strike. There is a better understanding of range; tackling, what positions to look for when hitting on the ground, and clever avoidance of grappling submissions. A striker is now free to hit more effectively, whether standing or on the ground. Now the tables are turned and it is the pure grapplers who must beware of the NHB fighter with striking ability.
