Edge of the Storm - Self Defense with Weapons
The Cutting Edge of Self-Defense
There are many myths and legends that circle around the use of concealed weapons for self-defense. Most are based on ignorance rather than fact. Handguns are not as easy to carry and use as they are portrayed. A handgun can be bulky and hard to operate in a stressful panic situation. The decision to use a handgun is also a heavy moral decision and carries extreme legal penalties that are highly prosecutable. On the other hand, a knife is much more desirable weapon to carry for
self-protection. The knife is also much more likely to be carried by an assailant and should be prepared for incase of an assault. The knife is treated much less seriously by the law and is far more easy to use than a handgun. The knife has been born out of millions of years of mans cultural evolution to represent the ultimate equalizer in any self-defense situation!

This weapons self-defense program consists of an ongoing progression of edged and blunt weapons usage and understanding. Seminars, workshop classes and an 8 week program are all available!
Phase 1

Phase 5
disarming against a stick or knife
Tactical use of a baton or duty knife is often overlooked in police academy training. I have worked with police officers on the local, state and federal level and they all lack sufficient weapon training outside of their firearms. This neglect is then carried into the field where baton weapons are either misused or left in the squad car. Officers are seriously injured or killed as a result of domestic disturbances every year by some type of edged weapon or blunt instrument, far more than any assault with a firearm. The simple fact of the matter is that these weapons are cheaper and more readily available to the general population. They require less ability to use and are not penalized as heavily for their use in altercations.
Any straight object of any length can represent a stick or knife as an edged or blunt weapon. Whether it is a rolled newspaper or a screwdriver, a candlestick, a knitting needle or, a sword. The principals that govern the usage and effective wielding of these weapons are all the same. The length of the weapon, the weight of the weapon, the line of attack and the range will determine the effective wielding, controlling and disarming of all edged or blunt weapons. An understanding of stick and knife functionality and theory can put you way ahead of the rest of the field when it comes to your own personal self-defense!
